Services and Treatments

At the Rehabilitation Medicine Center, treatment is a team effort where the physiatrist prescribes and coordinates a specific treatment program for each patient.

Our PM&R physicians offer an aggressive, non-surgical approach to pain and injury. Controlling pain without drugs whenever possible is a focus of physiatry, and the emphasis is on conservative, non-invasive treatment methods. The vast majority of injuries to muscles, ligaments, tendons, and bones do not require surgical intervention. As a matter of fact, over 90% of sports and occupational injuries do not require surgery.

Each member of our staff takes a whole body approach to treatment, going beyond the resolution of symptoms to the prevention of recurrence.

We offer a broad spectrum of diverse therapies including physical therapy, therapeutic exercise, massage, acupuncture and therapeutic injections. When necessary we also prescribe drugs or assistive devices, such as braces.

During the course of treatment frequent staff meetings between physicians and therapists help maintain the close contact necessary to facilitate any modifications in therapy that may be indicated.

Whether treating simple physical mobility issues or those with complex involvement our focus is on restoring and teaching our patients how to prevent future injury.

The Body is affected physiologically by the mind and few doctors get involved in the whole life picture of the patient the way physiatrists do. For us, the social history of the patient is very important.
